Charlotte is skilled in weaving the Oklahoma double wall and gives thanks to her teachers Kay Cope and Terry Restivo who learned from the well known Cherokee weaver, Linda Lou Alexander of Oklahoma. Linda learned from the master weaver, Mavis Doering in Oklahoma. She spends many days theaching herslef the complex double woven Cherokee baskets. She writes "a good basket is one which is woven within traditional guidelines, from traditional materials, if available, with the skill of a master." She continues to research the old Cherokee patterns and would like to keep her baskets as close to the historical baskets as possible. She said "but with all works of art at some point that creative ability comes forth and I hope to make some baskets with my own designs, however, all within the historical context of the way they would have been made and designed in the past."

She has developed a strong interest in using native materials and dyes in her baskets as well as learning the traditional and old Cherokee designs, including growing her own river cane.
